I Guess Every Once in a While Both Suns Shine on a Womp Rat’s Tail

The Mandalorian Season 2 aired through Disney+ at the last quarter of the previous year, bringing back many familiar characters from the Clone Wars and the Original Trilogy to a stunning conclusion, at least until the next season.

In fact, the stinger at the last episode hinted at a new series featuring everyone’s favourite Mandalorian from the last century!

Anyways, today marks the annual levelling-up day of yours truly. Oh well, another year, another number to add upon the last…

Rewarding myself for my hard work surviving all these years, I’ve acquired a couple of new LEGO Star Wars sets earlier this month, one of them a playset from The Mandalorian.

LEGO Star Wars 75299 Trouble on Tatooine features 3 different builds thrown together as one package, based upon the very 1st episode of the 2nd Season of The Mandalorian.

3 separate poly-bags as well as an instruction booklet are included within the small box itself, totalling at 277 LEGO pieces.

The 3 separate builds are: The Speeder Bike utilised by Mando and the Child; The Tusken Raider tent/hideout; The Ballista.

Perhaps the ultimate goal of all LEGO collectors, this Speeder Bike is the sole reason me and many others wanted from the playset itself.

To be honest I kind of wish the other two are never included in the same set, as the scene in the show have Mando and a Tatooine Marshall named Cobb Vanth (In Boba Fett’s armour to boot!), rode together on separate Speeder Bikes, on their way to hunt the enormous Krayt Dragon.

Nevertheless, the Speeder itself have a saddle bag allowing the Child to travel along with Mando himself, as well as a couple of clips underneath his seat to hold into his Amran Rifle.

Bonus point for the Speeder for being able to actually fit into the cargo hold of the Razor Crest itself!

The next build out of the three is this half-baked Tusken Raider Tent/Hideout, which is basically half of it with visible slits in between each corners attached with a campfire plate. The campfire can be separated from the tent, while the tent can be straightened using the rotating hinges to allow direct access to its bare interior.

Nothing much is interesting about this, as the only scene from the series itself only had Mando and the Marshall making a brief stop by a Tusken Raider’s encampment to enlist their help on the hunt.

The final build is one of the ballistas utilised by the Tusken Raiders during the climax of the episode, in order to pin down the massive Krayt Dragon in order for the group to move in for the kill.

The ballista is quite interesting of a build, generally captures the essence and the overall look of its counterpart in the series. A spring-loaded shooter with a grey-coloured projectile is part of the build.

Continuing with the rule of 3, three mini-figs (2 and a half if you insist otherwise) are included with this set.

The Mandalorian himself returns in his shiny Beskar Armour, featuring metallic prints all around his body, including each side of both arms too. Only a black head piece instead of a normal face-printed head underneath his helmet, just like the previous Mandalorian set.

The Child is the very same one included in the Razor Crest set.

And finally, a Tusken Raider, along with his traditional weaponry, the Gaderffii A.K.A. the Gaffi Stick.

There are quite a number of additional pieces left over from the set.

You even get enough to build another Amran Rifle.

Aside from this set, I’ve also acquired another: the LEGO Star Wars 75301 Luke Skywalker’s X-Wing Starfighter. Unfortunately, I’ve yet to assemble this one at this time.

I’ll update and review it in the near future.
