Happy 牛, Yeah!

For the past year, the pandemic has brought much inconvenience and misfortune to Earth, forcing Humanity to cower in fear and anguish for the majority of the moons past.

Enough with scurrying around hiding in holes like a Metal Rodent, it’s time for us to diligently work our way towards a future full of prosperity like a Metal Ox.

A very happy Lunar New Year to the lots of you and us who are celebrating this very auspicious season today!

Came together free of charge (When you reached a certain amount of total purchase of course, as always) with my purchase of LEGO Star Wars 75299 Trouble on Tatooine last month, is a seasonal gift set specially made by LEGO in celebration of Lunar New Year 2021.

Clad in a bright yellow packaging, it would seem LEGO 40417 New Year of the Ox (2021 Special Edition) is meant as a substitute to Ang Pow/Hong Bao/Red Packet for parents/married couples to gift to the kids/singles.

The box contains 3 unnumbered sachets of LEGO pieces, an instruction manual and a specially made Red Packet decorated with the set’s image and gold hot stamping.

While the build itself is not very challenging, suitable for kids and all, the majority of the LEGO pieces used are in dark brown colour, making it a rather hard search for pieces when all of them are stashed together…

As the name suggest and in accordance to the Lunar New Year, The finished build is of a very derpy cutesy super deformed ox relaxing on a field of grass and flowers, pondering its bovine year ahead.

Its head can be rotated around at the base and its adorable limbs can be articulated thanks to the ball joint.

The hinged ears can also be perked up, even its short tail can move around as well, although very loose due to the LEGO piece used for its construction.

You can detach the main body from the field base plate for separate display, too.

For a gift set, there are quite a number of left over pieces, in case kids accidentally lost them during assembly.

Once again, a very happy Lunar New Year to all!
