An Elegant Weapon For a More Civilised Age

Any Star Wars fan will surely remembers and recognises the iconic weapon of a Jedi Knight, the coloured laser bladed sword of awesomeness. It’s no secret that every one of them would want a weapon of such calibre in their own collection of ever-growing Star Wars merch, may it be just prop hilt or real toys.

While there exists official lightsabre toys from the official license holders, such merchs are in the end just mass-produced collector’s items of varying quality, usually below par. Luckily for the past decade or so, fan made custom lightsabres are things of beauty, going through evolution by evolution of upgrades that surpassed the likes of their official counterparts.

Various designs were created, sounds and light gimmicks perfected, which are practically indistinguishable from the movie magic nowadays. They were utilised in many forms, from conventions wielded by cosplayers, to even as an actual fencing swords in Jedi inspired combat training camps…

After coming back from the screening of Episode VII: The Force Awakens about a year and a half back, eager to get my hands on a lightsabre, I’ve gotten myself an Anakin-to-Vader Ultimate FX Lightsabre from Hasbro, only to be utterly disappointed by its plastic build and less than desirable brightness of the blade, not to mention one of its core function (Changing from blue to red blade at will while ignited) is defective.

Fast forward a year later after the viewing of Rogue One, once again my wish to acquire a lightsabre of my own resurfaced, this time I’m in for a treat as I’ve managed to find one on Taobao that is actually affordable, unlike the premium prices on various custom lightsabre makers (Such as Ultrasabers and SaberForge) out there…

TRAITOOOOOR!!!

Ever since my viewing of Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens last Christmas, I’ve been eager to get my hands on wave 2 of the LEGO buildable figure sets, which I predict will be from the movie itself.

True to my speculation, wave 2 indeed is all about Episode VII, featuring the likes of Kylo Ren, Rey, Finn, Captain Phasma, Poe Dameron and the First Order Stormtrooper…

While wave 1 focus more on the first six movies and lack of any classic Stormtrooper aside from Commander Cody (A Clone Trooper), the First Order Stormtrooper set from wave 2 really caught my eyes.

The First Order Stormtrooper and the Captain Phasma set are identical aside from base colour and a pauldron to denote rank for the latter. Due to my preference of grunt units, I chose the former instead.

The Day of the Force

Star Wars Day is celebrated worldwide annually on the 4th of May by avid fans of the Star Wars Saga.

For the uninitiated Padawans, “May the Fourth” sounds a lot like the catch phrase “May the Force Be with You!” from the movies… thus the celebrated date!

Intercepting the TIE of the Jedi

Bricks and studs assembly going on a roll!

As mentioned last time, I have acquired yet another LEGO Star Wars set, just shortly after I got the 75030 Microfighters Millennium Falcon

First seen during the last of the Prequel movies (Episode III: Revenge of the Sith), the Eta-2 Actis-Class Light Interceptor (Most commonly known as the Jedi Interceptor due to its heavy use by the Jedi Generals throughout the end days of the Clone Wars) is a Starfighter purposely designed to bridge the gap between the Prequel Trilogy and Original Trilogy. :3

She May Not Look Like Much, But She’s Got It Where It Counts…

If my memory serves me correctly, it’s been more than a decade since I last touch (Let alone assemble and play with) the LEGO bricks…

In my early years, I have always been fascinated by the versatility of the LEGO bricks, of which one could build almost everything as far as your imagination can go.

Owning sets of LEGO is by no means a tough feat then or even now, as they are not really in an affordable price range and often seen as rich kids’ (And Credits-loaded collectors) toys.

Throughout my decade of absence, two of my favourites, Star Wars and LEGO, somehow merged. 0w0 And out from the union, a slew of magnificent LEGO sets based on the films has been churning out non-stop over these years, although many of them are phased out in very short period and/or are exclusives.

An impulse acquisition from a fortnight back landed me this childhood love: the LEGO Star Wars Set 7965 Millennium Falcon, the iconic YT-1300 492727ZED Corellian Light Freighter from the movies is finally mine after years of drooling at displays at various stores!
