A Singularity at C3 AFA 2018

Fate/Grand Order, the phenomenal mobage available to the Android/iOS, is one of the main attraction for C3 Anime Festival Asia 2018…

The main stage event for FGO were held on day 2, featuring the Chaldea Radio Station duo Takahashi Rie and Tanaka Minami, alongside Fate series veteran Kawasumi Ayako, and last but not least, the Creative Producer, Shiokawa “Salt River” Yosuke himself.

As no photo-shooting and video-taking were allowed, there’s nothing from the stage hall I can show you here…

There was a brief talk on the game itself, but from the perspective of the US version instead of the JP version, which is a bummer to many of us.

The guests each talked on various part of the 1st arc of the story, as well as holding a live-dubbing session for each of their voiced character in-game. Kawasumi-san provided the most fan service by reciting Noble Phantasm lines of Altria Pendragon, Altria Pendragon (Alter) and Altria Pendragon (Archer).

TFW Nitoris (VA: Tanaka Minami) and Mash (VA: Takahashi Rie) were surprised most of us are Masters of the JP version instead, brought a smile to our face. Another highlight of the stage was Tanaka-san noticing various Medjed cosplayers within the stage hall. XDc

Elsewhere, as one of the largest booth within the exhibition halls, Aniplex spared no expenses introducing a large quantity of standees, diorama and various printed visuals to attract the eyes of visiting Masters…

So this is where all our hard-cashed-out gacha money went to… XDc

Various info detailing and explaining the mobage’s system and lore can be read on the walls of the booth.

Curiously, while the US version is the main focus of the booth/event, the walls also incorporate some of JP version’s up-to-date info, like the Extra classes beyond Ruler and Avenger, for example…

A platform of Heroic Spirit Summoning Circle can be seen erected in the midst of the FGO booth.

Many Masters used this area as their catalyst for their gacha sessions, and many Fate cosplayers too used the platform for photo shoot…

A gathering of about 140 Servants can be seen in their acrylic standee form within the booth itself…

A pity the Servants featured are those available so far from the US version of the mobage (Up to Ishtar, the latest Servant featured in the Christmas event), instead of up-to-date with the JP version which has about another hundred more (Now at Lost Belt 3)…

A number of merchandise were sold at the booth, most of them products available to past events from Japan, China, Taiwan or the US…

Live summoning sessions were held at the booth itself, allowing eager Masters to try out the gacha system which attracted long queues every time.

If you managed to summon one of the nine indicated Servants, you’ll get that summoned Servant’s postcard as well as a Master’s Command Seal Tattoo Sticker from the staff.

There is also a Wall of Wishes where you can write-up your in-game Master ID so others can add you as friend in-game, or just write whatever you want to, onto the Saint Quartz stickers given out on site…

Elsewhere at the Aniplex booth is the tabletop version of FGO, where players can have a d-d-d-duel with one another with Command Cards, Servant Skill Cards and the miniature Servant figures themselves…

Tutorial sessions are given during exhibition days for new players interested to try them out…

Never forget the single most important individual in the Grand Order, and she is the sole Master of Chaldea, Gudako herself!

Fan-favourite self-projected mascot who hailed from Riyo’s FGO Manga de Wakaru! web comic series, the kigurumi of our Lord and Saviour of salty gacha rolls graced the booth’s small stage at various time slots to do her usual shenanigans and kicking other Masters’ ass…

Those soulless eyes are the same as many Masters who failed to roll their favourite Servants from the gacha, and pretty much given up on life already…

It’s time to end the whole AFA after report…

Coming up next will be the Creator’s Hub, the cosplayers as well as a small gathering of dolls!
