Standing by the hill-side gazing over the Cool Culture of Otakuism!

I am C-3PO, Human-Cyborg Relations

Ever since I got the much sought after Millennium Falcon of the original trilogies (There is a new, updated but still mostly the same one under the new movie brand), I lamented over the lack of droids included in its roster of 6 different mini-figs (Luke Starkillerkywalker, Han Solo, Chewbacca, Leia Organa, Darth Vader & Obi-Wan Kenobi)…

Since then, I’ve been searching for external add-ons, from loose sets found at various sites. Unfortunately, most of them looked rather bland (Older designs are pretty basic, mind you) so I ended up not buying any. Then I got the Jedi Interceptor from Revenge of the Sith, which includes an R2 unit. Now what’s left is that blabbermouth goldie… w

A few weeks back, upon random surfing at my local hobby store’s website, I stumbled upon this polybag on sale. It’s suppose to be a cheap purchase-with-purchase in the States, retailed at about USD 3.99 (I believe?) but bloated to about MYR 60 (USD 14), all thanks to the weak forex here. :/

Anyway, I immediately grabbed this LEGO Star Wars 5002948 C-3PO, along with an extra (Will elaborate on that in later review post w) to be eligible for free shipping. w

A fine example of false advertisement, the sachet shows Threepio in his glorious golden coat of bling-bling-ness, but the actual mini-fig is far from that, features only a dull orange-brownish matte gold as his base colour… orz

Nothing much on the rear end of the sachet, just some warnings and trademark info in many different languages…

The set contains only three parts: the head, the body and the legs. As with any mini figure, nothing really special there.

Guest mini-fig R2-D2 will supervise his assembly.

The most detailed C-3PO to date, with all them circuitry and droid parts, even the glowing eyes, are printed onto the basic LEGO mini figure blocks.

Still have no idea the reason behind his left arm now in brownish red though… Oh well we’ll know soon enough during the movie.

Droids… They are such a wacky bunch…

Speaking of Star Wars, when I arrived at Changi airport two days before AFA15, I am blessed with a chance make it my priority to pay a visit to Terminal 3 and gaze upon the life-size T-70 X-Wing Fighter on display there.

The celebration for the upcoming movie will last from the 13th of November until the 5th of January next year, so if you’re somewhere there during this period, don’t hesitate to drop by for a look.

A thorough look at the rear side of the X-Wing. It seems the wings are scissor’d together along the chord as single panel now instead of the splitting across the span as in the older T-69 chassis…

Elsewhere at Terminal 2’s Departure Hall, another iconic Star Wars vehicle is on display alongside with a squad of 5 First Order Stormtroopers.

The TIE Fighter doesn’t seem to be the Special Forces model as seen in the movie (Those can shoot backwards with a mounted turret located on the right side of the cockpit) and it sure doesn’t look 1:1 scale… More like 1:2 scale mayhaps?

The First Order Stormtroopers are ready to storm the front. =w= Initially, the new helmet design (Fan-dubbed the Mickey Trooper) puts me off a bit, but after a while it grew on me.

In fact, they look much bad ass in the latest teasers and trailers showing off with riot gears taking on a Lightsaber wielder. I’m taking a liking to those blasters they are holding as well. :3c

Star Wars promotions everywhere lately, had a Subway lunch after a half day’s work and got this nice First Order Stormtrooper rubber strap as a freebie.

Gonna hang it on my newly acquired camera/laptop back pack from during my AFA15 trip. ^_^

So amidst the hype surrounding the newest Star Wars Episode VII movie, coming in less than a week’s time here (My viewing will be the following Saturday morning, woo hoo!), I also went ahead and accidentally purchased a Hasbro Ultimate FX Lightsaber (Anakin to Darth Vader Colour Change ver.) from eBay.

It has been shipped only a couple of days ago so I guess it won’t be reaching me any time when the movie screens.

But nonetheless, I know the power of the Dark Side… Guhehehe…
