Initiation of a Mini Fiesta

Comic Fiesta Mini happened last weekend, but only now I’ve managed to post-process and upload all them piccies caught during the event itself.

Held within the halls of Straits Quay Convention Centre, the annual event felt more organised and less chaotic this time when compared to its earlier years, namely the ones at Gurney Paragon and Penang Times Square, as those location are kinda too open (Paragon) and weird in layout (PTS).

Foxy mascots welcoming the visitors at the entrance. =w=

Anyway, here’s be the after-event report you’re looking for.

Although not as packed as some other higher budget events like Penang Anime Matsuri, a throng of early birds already gathered around the ticketing booth in the wee hours of the morning, as the staff going around the halls finalising the finishing touches.

A shenanigan by them staffs just before the opening hours of the event itself. XDc

At one corner of the halls lies a section dedicated to a certain maid café, featuring overpriced foods served by Leng Chai (Bishounen) and Leng Lui (Bishoujo) calling you their master/mistress… :P

Elsewhere, the main stage of the event itself, which hosts a number of stuff including guest cosplayers game show, band performances and of course cosplay competition.

Scattered throughout the halls are of course official guest cosplayers merchandise booth, commercial booths selling (some of them 2nd hand as far as I can tell by the condition and the suspiciously low pricing) figures and anime merchandise, as well as doujin booths.

Apparently there’s a corner dedicated to Ultra Street Fighter IV gaming sessions and tournaments, as well as a certain installation art depicting mascots of the event in a Street Fight setting, seemingly sponsored by a local arts and design college, The One Academy.

Saw this nicely detailed replica of Psycho Pass’s Dominator at one of them booths.

Nope it doesn’t transform or anything. :P

I find this quite amusing as the organiser decided to name the restricted area as a VIP Holding Room. So Siutao, Luffy, Olivie, Lea and Mikki were held as hostage in there? XDc

But coming from the same guys who named their trash bins as some over popular anime chara like Hestia, Kirino and Asuna (Literally “Your Waifu is Trash”), it’s no surprise actually.

Anyway, we’ll take a look at the lovely dolls that paid a visit to the event on my next posting.

Stay tuned!
