Standing by the hill-side gazing over the Cool Culture of Otakuism!

A Wonderful Hobby Preview of the Summer

Barely half a year since the last event, the 18th Wonderful Festival Summer once again was here to poison the minds of fellow figure collectors and otaku alike last Sunday!

Showcasing and announcing many of their upcoming releases and prototypes, it’s no wonder many respected makers strive to prove their worth by bombarding the event with loads and loads of eye-candies. w

If you aren’t living in a sheltered nuclear blast vault for the past year, it’s no doubt you’ll and/or have heard about the rising popularity of the anime/manga masterpiece Shingeki no Kyoujin. In fact, Wonderful Hobby Life for You part of the event is fully dedicated towards promoting the figures of this anime!

Here we have coloured prototypes of Figma Elen Jaeger, Figma Chou Ogata Kyoujin and Figma Mikasa Ackerman. While the Kyoujin is just a placeholder figure with no actual Figma joints yet, both Elen and Mikasa looks incredibly detailed and cool.

Fan favourite moe tank anime Girls Und Panzer will also be getting their own Figma in the form of the 5 crew members of Team Anko! w

Figma Nishizumi Miho, the Tank Commander is shown but I doubt sh’ll come with her own Panzer in the final product (Duh!). XDc

Sorta mecha anime of the last season, Suisei no Gargantia, will also get a Figma featuring the main heroine of the series Amy. She comes with her Glider to my surprise! :3c

Idolm@ster will get a Figma KIsaragi Chihaya, which makes me wonder if Max Factory will release the rest of the 756 pro idols, since Idolm@ster fans are pretty numerous if I’m not mistaken. www

And from the vapour bin comes Figma Archer, which was announced a few years back but have been in the darks since, at least until now. ^_^

Onwards to the Nendoroid department, there’re heap-loads of announcements and prototypes shown in the event itself, some of them already in the pre-ordering stage!

Many Nendo are counterparts to their Figma form while some of them new, such as Nendo Aigis (Persona 3 Fes; Will be a fully possible Nendo, with additional joints on her elbows and knees unlike your traditional Nendo…), Nendo Amy (Suisei no Gargantia), Nendo Saber Alter (Fate/Stay Night), Nendo Shiku (Rozen Maiden; This one super cute!), Nendo Shirai Kuroko (To Aru Kagaku no Railgun), Nendo Hachikuji Mayoi (Bakemonogatari), Nendo Akiyama Yukari (Girls Und Panzer), Nendo Gilgamesh (Fate/Zero; Wonder if his armour will be in plated gold or just matte gold…), and Nendo Saber Bride (Fate/Extra CCC).

Or course there are more of them Figma, Nendo and scaled figures (Which I neglected since I’m more interested in pose-able figures instead of fixed pose ones, if you’ve followed my blog for some time now. ^_~), you can view some of them via Good Smile Company’s WHL4U page.

Speaking of pre-orders, the following 3 Nendos are currently available for PO.

Nendo Ranka Lee (3,500 yen, November 2013) of Macross Frontier fame in her absolutely adorable Seikan Hikou stage dress! I’ve place a PO on her without hesitation ever since her reveal earlier this Moon.

She comes with her signature Kira~! hand sign as well as a diorama SMS stage platform as accessories, altho like many comrades I feel GSC should have included her Ai-kun, squishie handphone and many other accessories as well… :/

Nendo Iron-Man Mk 42 Hero’s Edition Hall of Armour Set (5,500 yen, November 2013) of Iron-Man 3 is an upgraded version of the previous Mk VII Nendo, which was one of the most sought after Marvel Nendo ever after market as far as I know.

Like its predecessor, Mk 42 comes with only an alternate face featuring a Nendo’d face of Robert Downey Junior as Tony Stark. :3c Note that this Nendo is fully articulated in his elbows and knees.

He comes with the Hall of Armours featuring all his previous Iron-Man suit (Mk I – Mk VII) as his diorama display base. Unfortunately this adds to the marketing price in total, which is one of the prime reason I didn’t PO him.

Nendo Saber Extra (3,800 yen, November 2013) came as a surprise to many Fate/Extra fans, including myself. Altho I’m kinda on a fence of getting her, Saber Extra does come with a few accessories including her Aestus Estus, a single rose and of course her silly CHANxCO face. w

It seems her armour and some decorative ornaments will be clad in plated gold, unlike her Figma form… D:

Am severely disappointed at the flood of Sabers but still no announcement of a Figma/Nendo Caster Extra… TT^TT

  2. Disappointed there not being any Caster Nendo or Figma. There’d be so much love for her heh. Nice looking Saber Extra though.
