Debriefing of a Durandal

In a couple of posts from last month, I’ve already concluded my review on my Macross holy grail, the YF-29 Durandal Valkyrie (Ozma Lee Custom).

However, I deemed it was necessary for a few comparison shots with some of my other Macross Valks. So here’s a triple shots of them together in there Triple forms… XDc

Firstly, all three Valks in their respective Fighter mode.

Scale wise, Ozma Lee’s ride is the largest in my arsenal, followed by the slightly smaller plamo kit Saotome Alto’s VF-25F Armoured Messiah Valkyrie and the miniature Revoltech Roy Focker’s VF-1S. YF-29 really stands out due to its awesome colour scheme and custom paint job.

For more information on the YF-29, please refer to my reviews: Misadventure of a Skull Leader and Formation: Totsugeki! Love Heart!

Formation: Totsugeki! Love Heart!

A continuation from last time, which is solely focused upon the YF-29 Durandal Valkyrie (Ozma Lee Custom)’s Fighter mode, now let’s transform it into its other modes in this follow-up post.

While boasting of its triple-changing modes of Fighter-Gerwalk-Battroid, there is actually another sub-form shown sparingly in the anime, a tween of Fighter and Gerwalk which I personally called the AT-ST Chicken Walker mode. XDc

One of the perks of being a Valk is its ability to do a sudden emergency stop and/or reverse thrusts, something of which even its real world jet fighter counterparts have yet to achieve perfectly as far as I know (Please correct me if I’m wrong).

It’s basically your average Gerwalk mode, which is why most of the time it is called as such. The only difference is the arms are not deployed, only the thrusters are detached from its initial location and brought forward as legs.

Misadventure of a Skull Leader

It is in my interest that I must get a proper figure of a Valkyrie especially the ones from Macross Frontier (I got one Plamo version of Saotome Alto’s VF-25F Armoured Messiah Valkyrie as well as a Revoltech VF-1S before), ever since I laid my eyes on the franchise, but has always put my wish on hold due to their steep price.

Back when it was announced, Bandai’s incredible transformable DX Chogokin figure rendition of Macross Frontier’s Ozma Lee’s custom YF-29 Durandal Valkyrie from the PS3 game Macross 30: Ginga wo Tsunagu Utagoe!! (To coincide with Macross’s 30th anniversary), caught my attention immediately due to its impressive mould as well as an eye-catching colour scheme.

Unfortunately, it would seem that every time I try to get any figures from any Chogokin line, my luck (Or unluck if you will…) would suffer from a steep penalty from my by now a definite trait of Otaku Jinx™…

Ozma’s YF-29 is a standard release retailed at 17,000 yen, meaning I could get it on my usual channel(s) of online stores. But as per the usual trend in the Macross figure collectors’ scene, pre-orders for it immediately went out and closed upon minutes on its opening due to extreme “supply < demand” situation. Unable to secure my cache amongst any of them online stores, I had to resort to a local physical store of which the employee an acquaintance of mine.

That’s just the tip of a series of unfortunate tumbles in my quest to secure the Valk…

Misadventure of a Phantastic Chogokin

Perhaps one of the worst delivery delay ever happened to me, my long streak of Otaku Jinx never fail to disappoint me with its frequent appearance ever since many Moons ago… D:

Originally suppose to arrive safely onto my eager hands more than two Moon ago, the forwarding company messed up my package with another of its customer’s, causing a mixed up of delivery: instead of my Chogokin RAcaseal Black ver., I got something else altogether instead!

A brief count on the incident: Pre-ordered some time before AFA12 last Earth cycle at Tamashii Web Store, it doesn’t occur to me that Bandai Premium might refuse my credit card (which it did, as the site doesn’t accept non-Japanese issued CCs) when it was ready to ship!

Panicked and the only alternate paying method being Cash-on-Delivery and Combini (Outta question), I had to search for a deputy/proxy service other than my usual Tenso that offers to pay in my stead using COD, that’s when I found Japan to Door. Never really tried their service before (Eventho I have an account there since forever), I’ve decided to try it out since I’m outta options (And kinda recommended by Danny-san back in 2009 too).

This is when the nightmare started.

Extra Merchandise of Another Fate

After a full Moon since the release of Fate/Extra CCC, I’ve finally completed and obtained Tama-chan’s Servant Ending! www

Fate_Extra_CCC_Merchandise

While preparing to start the game anew with New Game + using another Servant (I’ve decided on Aka Saber! www), I’ve unwittingly knowingly scoured the vast space known as the internet and found several related merchandise now in pre-order stage.
